Confession: Up until about a year ago, I had battled with constipation my whole life. I tried every constipation cure known to man: prune juice, probiotics, ginger, laxatives, enemas, you name it. I even went so far as to have colonics because they were the only thing that helped eliminate the constant blockage I felt inside of me.
Ideally, humans are supposed to go to the bathroom several times per day. Yet, sometimes a whole week would pass and nothing would happen. When I spoke to my doctor about it, she suggested to avoid red meat because it takes 3 days to digest, so she said it “literally rots in your system.”
I stopped eating meat. I improved my diet habits. Yet I still suffered from chronic constipation and couldn’t figure out why.
One afternoon, I went in for a colonic appointment, and the doctor recommended a bottle of pills called “Intestinal Movement Formula” from a company by the name of HealthForce Detox. Considering I had tried every pill that existed, I declined the first time, but after my second visit when he recommended them again, I decided to give them a try.
I’m proud to say that I haven’t been back for a colonic since.
Not only that, but I haven’t struggled with constipation once since I started taking them.
The Intestinal Movement Formula pills are all natural, vegan, gluten-free and non-habit forming. They contain ginger root (which is great for digestion), as well as rhubarb root, peppermint leaf, oregano leaf, and a few other natural ingredients that help with digestion.
I used to take 2 capsules in the morning, but I’ve found that for best results, I take one capsule along with 1 probiotic capsule (I take acidophilus) and *shock* I actually go to the bathroom several times a day like a normal person now!
You can order Intestinal Movement Formula directly from the HealthForce website below. The 50 capsule bottles cost $17.95 and the 120 capsule bottles cost $24.95 Personally, I buy the 120 capsules, but if you want to try it out first, you may want to order the 50 capsule bottle:
For additional constipation relief, I make a mango banana spinach smoothie every morning with ginger (you can find the recipe here: Super Green Smoothie) for two reasons: 1) You should always eat fruit in the morning because it’s the easiest food to digest, and 2) Ginger is incredible for digestion.
I’ve also heard from others that there’s a recipe called GOOP that works really well too. You mix ½ pound of prunes, ½ pound figs, 1 cup warm molasses and ¼ pound senna powder, eat ½ teaspoon every night before bed, and store the remainder in the fridge.
If you struggle with constipation, then I strongly recommend finding what works for you.
